The french medical institute for children of Kaboul FMIC

The french medical institute for children isn't only 4000 children saved. It isn't only doctors and nurses trained. It isn't only 318 Afghans working there, including 20 permanent doctors.


It is much more ! FMIC is the promise of a better future in Afghanistan.


After 3 years of running, the Insitute must be developed.


Second step of project : FMIC's expansion to offer the following services

- Obstétrics : 52 beds, 4 delivery rooms, 2 operating theatres and 1 recovery room
- 10 neonantal resuscitation beds, 15 baby beds
- An internal training site
- Expansion of complementary and support services : kitchen, laundry room, mortuary
- Expansion of imaging and Xray department
- Extension of clinic offerings



Bulding works sheduled between spring 2009 and summer 2010



The hospital estimated expansion costs amounts to 10 million dollars



3rd step of projet : building a facility dedicated to adult medecine and surgery providing services in general and specialized medical care

The different parteners agreed on expanding the medical and surgical offerings to all general and specialized services for adults. A capacity of 400 beds is expected.
60 millions dollars are needed to build and guarantee the running of an academic hospital for 2 years in Kabul.
