Sustainable Medical Development

Training to cure

Providing theoretical and hands-on training to local medical personnel in disadvantaged countries.

"La Chaine de l'Espoir" imparts knowledge, technical and theoretical skills to local medical teams in order to develop autonomy and provide care to children locally.

Training programmes are provided in their country and enable local doctors to examine sick children, select those needing surgery, carry out some operations locally, and ensure the follow-up of the operated children.
Hospital Construction

Developing training hospitals to care for children in countries where these opportunities do not exist.

The objectives of putting such structures in place are :
               To transmit knowledge and technology
To care for a greater number of children and train a greater number of personnel.

The first two hospitals, specialized in cardiology, were opened in Mozambique and Cambodia in 2001. The cardiovascular private clinic of the hospital of Fann, in Senegal* was entirely equipped in 2004, by "La Chaîne de l'Espoir" to enable by-pass surgery. More recently, in 2006, a hospital specialized in pediatric surgery opened in Afghanistan.
