New cardiac surgery mission in Jordan

La Chaîne de l’Espoir will send a cardiac surgery team in Amman between 17 and 25 November 2016, to operate on young Syrian patients suffering from heart defects.

The mission will take place in the Garden’s Hospital in Amman. It will be carried out in cooperation with the Syrian United Medical Bureau, responsible for the selection of young patients and postoperative monitoring, and the French Embassy in Jordan. The mission will be led by Dr Sylvain Chauvaud, cardiac surgeon and Pr Erwan Flecher from Rennes CHU. The team will consist of 10 persons including a Spanish surgeon.

La Chaîne de l’Espoir will work together with Jordanian and Syrian doctors willing to train in complex cases in cardiac surgery and anaesthesia.

La Chaîne de l’Espoir has been involved with Syrian refugee children in Jordan since 2012 implementing a long-term mission programme in orthopaedic surgery. Since January 2014, missions also include cardiac surgery for Syrian refugee children.
