Ayouba needs surgery

Burned in the oesophagus, the Malian boy can no longer swallow anything.

Ayouba is in great danger following a domestic accident. Escaping his mother’s vigilance, this little Malian boy swallowed a corrosive household product. The disaster occurred 3 months ago in Kolondiéba, a small town 250 kilometers from Bamako, Mali’s capital.

His entire esophagus was burned. Excruciating pain for this child… In the weeks following the accident, Ayouba found it increasingly difficult to eat, regurgitating almost everything he swallowed. Unable to feed himself, he lost a lot of weight and was constantly drooling. Very worried, the family gathered up all their savings and set off for the hospital in Bamako.

There, the diagnosis was made: the burnt esophagus had narrowed as it healed. Doctors had to make a radical decision: operate on the little boy to place a tube in his stomach, as nothing could pass through his mouth!

Since then, his mom has had to inject porridge through the tube several times a day. In addition to the pain and discomfort, Ayouba is isolated from the other children.

Let’s change this child’s life

Mariela, open-heart surgery in Madagascar

We need to act fast, and a medical team led by Dr Thomas is about to leave for Bamako to operate on a dozen children from the region with the help of Malian doctors.

Make a gesture and Ayouba can be added to this mission’s operating program.

This operation will enable the child to quickly regain his digestive functions, by grafting a fragment of his colon. He will be able to eat just 2 days after the operation, and a week later he will be completely cured and able to go home.

However, adding this procedure to the mission’s operating schedule has an incompressible cost.

With your help, we’ll cure Ayouba. All we have to do is form a Chain and we’ll change this child’s life.

We hope we can count on your support.
