To keep Tuan’s heart beating, we need your help
Born in the remote village of Thủ Thừa, Vietnam, 5-year-old Tuan suffers from a serious congenital heart disease: tetralogy of Fallot. From the very first weeks of his life, his skin turned purplish blue, a sign of poorly oxygenated blood.
This pathology, sometimes nicknamed the “blue disease”, groups together four cardiac malformations that prevent blood from circulating normally in the body. Without surgical correction, the little boy’s life is at risk every day.
Because his heart is too tired to supply his body with oxygen, Tuan runs out of breath quickly, can’t play with other children, or even walk long distances. His only hope is open-heart surgery to restore his heart to normal function. At the Hô-Chi-Minh-Ville Heart Institute, our volunteer teams are ready to step in and give him another chance. But we need to act fast.
Unfortunately, Tuan’s family can’t afford the operation. His mother died shortly after he was born, and his father, a construction worker, is already struggling to meet his daily needs. His grandmother looks after him, although she also helps out by making brooms to earn a little money.
Thanks to our Children’s Pavilion in Vietnam, Tuan will have a warm welcome and support before and after his operation. This place offers accommodation, care, a listening ear and comfort to children and their families, far from their isolated homes. By 2024, 180 children have already benefited from this program, but many are still waiting.
Tuan’s operation costs 5,000 euros, including care, surgery and accommodation at the Children’s Pavilion in Hô-Chi-Minh-Ville. Every donation, however small, is a step towards recovery. Thanks to you, Tuan will soon be able to run, laugh and play like a child his own age.
Give it a chance. Time is running out.
Together, let’s save Tuan.
