In August, we appealed to your solidarity to help us save Nary, a little Cambodian girl suffering from a serious heart defect.
Thanks to your generosity, Nary was able to undergo successful open-heart surgery at the Calmette Hospital in Cambodia.

Nary is currently being cared for at the Children’s Pavilion in Phnom Penh. Despite a slight fever, due to the flu the little girl suffered a few days after the operation, she is now in great shape. The post-operative ultrasound check-up showed that Nary’s heart has healed.
In order for the little girl, who is just two years old, to make a full recovery, she will remain at the Pavillon des Enfants for some time under the supervision of medical teams.
Nary needs you
We received a call for help from Sopheap Phuong, our correspondent at Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. She alerted us to Nary’s case: at just 12 months old, the little girl suffers from a severe congenital heart defect.
Her only hope: open-heart surgery
Nary was born with a sick heart: a persistent ductus arteriosus. Her lungs are flooded with blood. With the slightest effort, the little girl suffocates. It’s impossible for her to play and grow up like other little girls her age. Only open-heart surgery can save her life. But for that to happen, we need to intervene as quickly as possible.
Her mother is distraught: the cost of the operation to save Nary’s life is insurmountable. They both live in a small village in Kampong Cham, a province several hours from Phnom Penh. She earns just enough to survive on her meagre salary as a laborer, and can’t afford to contribute to the cost of the operation…
