Meeting Saroj and Muskan in Nepal
Richard Rouvier, a volunteer with La Chaîne de l’Espoir Marseille-Provence, has been the godfather of Saroj and Muskan for 8 years now, as part of the Education program developed by La Chaîne de l’Espoir in Nepal.
Children benefiting from the Education program receive support in the form of school equipment and clothing, as well as food and medical care. Because Nepal is so poverty-stricken, many young children are abandoned on the streets of major cities, particularly Kathmandu. They are picked up by the association’s humanitarian ambulance patrols to be cared for, fed, housed and, if possible, transferred to more rural sites to keep them away from the dangers of the big cities.
A trip full of emotions and pleasant surprises
Over Christmas, Richard visited the Morang Child Protection Centers and Services in Ithari, Nepal, funded by La Chaîne de l’Espoir. He had the opportunity to meet its directors and local volunteers.
This trip was above all an opportunity to meet Saroj and Muskan, as Richard had never met his two godchildren. He only communicated with them by post. The volunteer from Marseille spent Christmas with the children at the center, who carefully presented him with colorful drawings to give to the members of the Marseille branch.
The Marseille-Provence branch of La Chaîne de l’Espoir would like to extend its warmest thanks to La Maison du commercial in Marseille (advising and defending sales agents and VRPs), which financed 30 kgs of school supplies and is active throughout the year. A big thank you to Mélanie Rocrou, who donated a stock of superb children’s shoes, and to Qatar Airways for its patience with the weight of the suitcases all the way to Kathmandu…
