Acknowledgement of our actions in India
TAABAR rewarded for its effort in child protection
TAABAR, our partner in India, has just received a certificate of recognition and appreciation in the “Best social worker” category for its action in child protection. The award was presented last 15 August, India’s independence day, to Ramesh Paliwal, TAABAR’s founder and director by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mrs Shri Vasundhara Raje Ji.
Founded in 2007 in Jaipur, TAABAR helps children in difficult circumstances by opening up opportunities for their rehabilitation thanks to the work carried out inside their communities: orphans, street children, slum children and youth in need of guidance receive support.
La Chaîne de l'Espoir and TAABAR
Since 2011, La Chaîne de l’Espoir and TAABAR have been conducting a partnership programme designed to support the education and health of vulnerable children coming from the poor districts of Jaipur, and particularly girls, whose education is often not considered a priority.
Actions implemented mainly relate to prevention activities. They include the management of day centres and of a school for girls.
Some 1,200 children join the day centres after school and receive academic support, participate in activities promoting their expression (dance, theatre, etc.) and their creativity, and are made aware of their rights. Education and health awareness sessions are also conducted for 200 children and their entourage coming from three isolated communities on the outskirts of town so as to promote their integration into the school system. The school gives access to free quality education for 200 little girls from disadvantaged communities.
A mobile clinic tours the neighbourhoods; it treated over 50,000 patients in 2017.
Our common goal is to give the children the means to grow up in a safe and protective environment away from the hazards of the street.
