Malika’s new face

Plastic surgery in Kabul: successful operation for Malika

The year 2017 already marks a turning point in the life of Malika, a 14-year old Afghan girl born with a cleft lip. Malika comes from a large family living in a remote province of Afghanistan. She never had the chance of being operated on as a young child as is the case in developed countries. In Kabul, however, there was a glimmer of hope for Malika with the possibility of a free operation...

She was admitted at the French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) in January and her facial deformity successfully operated on. Her parents, who have 7 children and live on a very limited income, have benefited from the financial support provided to poor families by La Chaîne de l’Espoir.

After the operation, Malika and her parents returned to their native province. Malika now has a wonderful smile.
