Charity Run of Kabul

A HUGE thank-you to all of you !

The 5th Charity Run organized by Ms Linda Tomlinson at the Green Village of Kabul September 2nd was a great success !

In bright sunshine, the 33 participants, expatriates from all over the world, chose to walk, run or ride a bike for either 5, 10 or 21 km to the benefit of Afghan children. The winners of each course received a trophy which will always remind them of this beautiful day. The event ended with a delicious brunch gathering the participants, the organizers and all the supporters who encouraged and cheered the runners !

Many thanks to all those who took part in this event that raised $2900 for the Children’s Pavilion.

It's not too late to contribute ! You can still make a donation here.

Ms Linda Tomlinson’s story

Ms Linda Tomlinson organized the 5th Charity Run benefiting the Children’s Pavilion of La Chaîne de l’Espoir in Kabul.
Today, she tells us about her story.

“ Upon arriving in Kabul, Afghanistan back in 2008, I started a collection called ‘OWC’ which stood for Operations Winter Coats. The previous company I was working for helped tremendously with this effort.  We collected 65 large boxes of donations from the USA and Canada containing everything from jackets to gloves, scarves, winter boots and gloves. I still felt there was something more we could do to help the children and their parents overcome such extreme circumstances.  I reached out to a friend who was a paramedic at the camp I worked at, he put me in contact with a wonderful woman, Kate Rowlands who worked for La Chaîne de l’Espoir. From there we arranged 4 events that raised $100,000 which paid for 46 children’s surgeriesI left Kabul for a few years but since returning I’ve reached out to this wonderful organization again to arrange another event. We are all very excited to be helping such a wonderful organization that has changed the lives of more than 5000 children. ”
